fbb renumber...What if I want to keep the old list ?
Subject: TPK / fbb upgrade routine

Hello all. This is the procedure I used on TPK when my local bbs gb7ben
upgraded to fbb version 5.15b. There is no renumbering to do, just some
file and directory renaming.
Here is the directory structure of my TPK system. You will notice that
under the lists subdirectory, there are the normal msg-priv and bbs
subdirectories and the associated lst and num files.
Directory of c:\TPK\lists
Msg_priv (dir)
Gb7ben (dir)
Gb7ben lst
Gb7ben num
Msg_priv lst
Msg_priv num
Rxmsg TPK
Rename your bbs subdirectory and associated files to your bbs + ssid,
ie.. Gb7ben-1. Make sure the ssid doesn't clash with any that the
Bbs uses.
Directory of c:\TPK\lists
Msg_priv (dir)
Gb7ben-1 (dir)
Gb7ben-1 lst
Gb7ben-1 num
Msg_priv lst
Msg_priv num
Rxmsg TPK
Make a replacement subdirectory under lists with the name of your bbs,
ie..Gb7ben
Directory of c:\TPK\lists
Msg_priv (dir)
Gb7ben-1 (dir)
Gb7ben (dir)
Gb7ben-1 lst
Gb7ben-1 num
Msg_priv lst
Msg_priv num
Rxmsg TPK
You will have created an empty bbs directory, which when you restart
TPK and synchronise with your bbs, will produce new lst and num files.
If you want to look at the old files, then do a br bbs c bbs,
Ie...Br gb7ben-1 c gb7ben-1
On the command line. Once this is done, you will be able to see the
old mail without any trouble.
Hope that may help as a solution ???

Nbrzn:that is a good solution if you want to keep the old bbs list but
be aware that when you'll start your new list you're likely to have twice
the same list...And twice the messages that are flagged and downloaded
automaticaly...Which takes an awful lot of space on the hd.
Another way to deal with fbb renumbering is explained in TPK010 .
A utility named TPKrenum has been written for this problem...
Ask around on your local bbs, someone near you might have it...
